A Leicestershire officer has been selected to play for the national police England rugby team.

PC Nathan Jones played his first game against Scotland last Wednesday at the Doncaster Knights RFC ground, resulting in a 33 -15 win for England.

Nathan said: “This was a brilliant opportunity to represent Leicestershire Police in the first national game of the season. I played Scotland Police in the first season when the England Police Rugby was first established. They are a well-conditioned team so I was looking forward to facing them again.

“With the pandemic, it’s been a difficult time for rugby so I was very excited to put the national jersey back on and have a run out with the team again.

“The team put on a really good performance to get an overall win. First national game down and we're off to a good start. Hopefully more selections to come!”
