Longer telephone queues for appointments should be expected at Lakeside Healthcare at Stamford as a high number of staff are off sick.

Visitors to the healthcare provider's website are being met with an alert warning of a 'high level of staff illness'.

Lakeside Healthcare say they're monitoring the situation, but if things continue to get worse a site may be forced to close temporarily.

A statement from Lakeside Healthcare Hub Manager, Teri White, read:

"Unfortunately, Lakeside Stamford does have a number of staff members who are currently off sick, however, as some are able to work from home, we are currently providing our usual safe service.

"We are reviewing the situation constantly and, if we are unable to maintain this level of service for both patients and staff, an option could be to implement our Business Continuity Plan, which could include the closure of a site for a minimal period.

"At present such action is not required. Any closure decision would be made after careful consideration and patients would be informed via our website and Facebook page.

"We are working very hard to deal with this temporary staffing situation and are asking patients to bear this in mind when contacting us, as waiting times, both on the telephone, and at reception, may be longer than usual."
