A woman found dead at her home in Huntingdon has been named by police as 35-year-old Simone Smith.

Officers discovered her body at her flat in Saunders Close at around 5pm on 26 February. Following the discovery, a murder investigation was initiated, with police working through the evening and into the following day.

The investigation grew further when hospital staff at Hinchingbrooke Hospital discovered the body of 27-year-old Cody Parker in public toilets on 27 February.

Police confirmed that his death is connected to the murder of Simone, but have stated that they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

Detectives have treated the deaths as isolated.

A post-mortem examination on Simone, conducted at Addenbrooke's Hospital on 4 March, concluded that she died as a result of neck compression.

A second post-mortem examination on Cody Parker, also from Saunders Close, confirmed he died from hanging.

A statement from Simone's family expressed their devastation at the loss: “As Simone’s family we are completely devastated that her life was taken. Our beautiful girl was a kind-hearted soul, who had time for everyone and showed nothing but kindness and compassion to others."

They added, “This isn’t how her story should’ve ended; we have lost a daughter, a sister and an aunt. To us she was so loved and completely irreplaceable. We as a family have received an outpouring of love from friends, family and the local community. Simone’s close friends have expressed the deep loss and sadness they feel at this difficult time, describing her as a one and only.”
