A development of 62 new homes near Rutland Water's been suggested.

If approved the new estate - fit with a play area - will be right on the reservoir's doorstep off Normanton Road and house just under 1500 people.

Proposed by Philip Davies of Normanton - the aim outlined is to benefit a previously undeveloped plot of land with little impact on the area's natural beauty.

A transport statement submitted by Andrew Moseley Associates found the proposal would generate 28 vehicle trips at peak times during the morning and 26 in the evening.

Some residents are against the plan, however. Responding to the plan online, resident Vanessa Newton voiced her rejection of the idea:

"Access issues on Normanton road are not safe, this is a busy road with the access to Rutland water being on the opposite side of the road and this is an issue due to the high number of visitors to the area."

"The local area cannot support another proposed development as this is now 2 large sites in the same area along with the unknown development of St. George's barracks."

"I feel this rural area will lose it village feel. I strongly object to this proposal."
