Police have arrested three more people as part of an ongoing investigation into violent disorder and criminal activity linked to hare coursing across Cambridgeshire on 25 January.

Two men, aged 22 and 51, were arrested in Essex this morning (Tuesday), while a 46-year-old man was taken into custody in Peterborough this afternoon.

A force-led investigation was launched following multiple reports of hare coursing, criminal damage, and dangerous driving in several locations, including Fordham, Ely, Prickwillow, Littleport, Welney, Chatteris, Manea, Wimblington, and Doddington. Officers are continuing to appeal for the public’s help in identifying those involved.

Superintendent Ben Martin said: “Our investigation team has been working tirelessly, reviewing the many pieces of information that have come in. These arrests demonstrate our continuing commitment to bringing offenders to justice.”

Last Friday (31 January), officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Spalding and a 26-year-old man from Grantham on suspicion of violent disorder and attending a hare coursing event. Four vehicles were seized, three in Grantham and one in Essex, along with hare coursing equipment.

The two men have been released on bail with strict conditions, including restrictions on possessing or being in control of dogs, using certain types of equipment, and entering private land without written permission. They must also not intimidate others in 12 counties, including Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Norfolk.

Superintendent Martin added: “We still have a lot of work to do to bring those responsible for this criminality to justice. We are working closely with our policing colleagues across the country and will continue to make further arrests in the coming days and weeks.”

Anyone with information or footage that could assist in identifying those involved is asked to email [email protected] or contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers
