Nearly £300,000 of funding for Peterborough Women's Aid to extend specialist services to support victims of violence against women and girls from the Asian community is being given by the government.

It will increase professional awareness and improved response to this community.

Across England and Wales, up to £8.3 million of funding will be provided to fund frontline and specialist support projects.

It includes counselling, training and community outreach - part of the government’s commitment to quadruple funding for victim support services by 2025 compared to 2010.

There is also funding for specialist organisations working with male victims specifically.

A £1.2 million training programme has also launched for Independent Sexual Violence and Domestic Abuse Advisors who provide emotional and practical support to victims.
