Fuel and solvents found in River Nene after 100,000 fish died

Compounds usually found in fuel and solvents have been identified in the River Nene in Peterborough, months after thousands of dead fish were washed up in the waters.

The Environment Agency (EA) says the investigation into the pollution is complete but no further action can be taken.

Over 100,000 fish were reported dead along the river bank in December.

An EA spokesperson added "there are no traces of the pollutants in the river now, so we would consider it safe."
