Two friends from Stamford have set their sights on summiting three of the UK's highest peaks in just 24 hours.

Nurse Angela Rosewood and retail worker Ali Macdonald will climb to the top of Scafell in England, Ben Nevis in Scotland and Snowdon in Wales, all to raise money for local community group Stamford Kiwanis.

The pair will climb to the top of Ben Nevis on Saturday and, after climbing Scafell on the way past, will summit Snowdon on Sunday afternoon.

'I'd say we're feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves at the same time. It's a huge challenge we're facing but it's for a great cause and we're both really looking forward to getting up all three peaks and completing the challenge', Ali said.

'The average time is just over 23 hours so if we can do it before 23 hours we'll be be ecstatic and jumping with joy at the bottom of Snowdon.'

Thrill-seeker Ali Macdonald is no stranger to tough tasks, having already sky-dived and wing-walked.

She says this weekend is for a great cause, but a stepping stone in her and Angela's training for something even bigger next year:

'Kiwanis is of course our main reason to do this challenge but we are also doing three peaks as preparation for the amazing challenge we're doing for Alzheimer's Research next year, which will see us fly o Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro.'
