First Osprey eggs hatch at Rutland Water!
Rutland Osprey Project announced the exciting news on its Twitter account this morning.
The first of this year's ospreys has hatched at Rutland Water!
After a slight crack was spotted in one of the three eggs yesterday afternoon, the first chick arrived just before 11pm last night.
The species has made a triumphant return to the UK thanks to conservation efforts, after being on the brink of extinction over 150 years ago.
At lunchtime today, Rutland Osprey Project announced a SECOND egg hatched, which leaves just one egg to go!
The osprey egg that hatched last night is thought to be the first of it kind to hatch in the UK this year.
