Extra support is being made available to victims of domestic abuse in Rutland
The money is part of a Government scheme
Extra support is being made available to victims of domestic abuse in Rutland, with over a million pounds allocated by the Government for the Leicestershire - Rutland area.
It will enable victims and their children to access safe accommodation if they're at risk from an abusive partner.
Counselling and practical advice will also be offered as part of the support available.
The Mp for Rutland Alicia Kearns said:
“Domestic abuse is a truly horrific crime that ruins lives. I know that this Government understands this and is committed to empowering and protecting victims.
I believe it is important to find the most effective way to ensuring these victims have support. The £1,165,000 announced today for Leicestershire and Rutland will ensure that anyone who needs to access safe accommodation and the support services they need to recover and rebuild their lives will be able to do so and is part of a wider package of support we have put in place for victims of rape and domestic abuse.
This is a crucial step in supporting victims recover and rebuild their lives.”
This new funding is part of the Conservative Government’s landmark Domestic Abuse Bill.
