Exclusive: More help available for new parents who are struggling with their mental health in Rutland

A new drop in 'parent and baby' service is launching in Oakham today for women who are struggling with post-natal depression

We can exclusively reveal that more help is being made available for new mum's across Rutland who are struggling with post-natal depression.

It's thanks to Oakham-based mental health organisation 'Pepper's'.

They're putting on their first ever 'parent and baby' drop-in session today at 10am-12pm, and plan to run the face-to-face classes on a weekly basis going forwards.

Pippa Gorman works there; she's been telling us more:

"The group is open to all mums and dads who may have been struggling with ongoing, perinatal or new mental health difficulties.

"We're hoping to help parents who may have been struggling through lockdown and their little ones.

"We believe that having that face-to-face contact is vital in forming relationships, so that it becomes easier to break down those feelings of isolation. It's just not quite the same as doing things virtually.

"We want to provide a safe place where everyone feels welcome.

Parents have seen their support networks almost completely diminish in the last year, so those who may have already been struggling with their mental health have had very few places to go for a break or support."
