A new revised and expanded survey of the Medieval Earthworks of Rutland is to be launched at Oakham Castle later today.

Hartley, a former museum curator first published the original works in 1983 but has built on its findings over the years. Taking each site and revising the ground from air photographs and looking at new locations. The new edition also provides m ore details on the individual sites which not only will have interest to archaeological professionals but also those with interest in the Medieval period.

Robert told greatest hits that this new edition has much more detail.

“There’s just lots and lots of little details, Seaton for example, I spoke with lots of people there, and putting it all together on a plot of the village you can learn a lot about how it changed over the years .”
