Could it be the 'end of the Ice Cream Industry' in Stamford and Rutland?
Rising living costs and high fuel prices are having a big impact on business
For one type of business which thrives in the warmer weather, we're being told why some Ice Cream vans in Stamford and Rutland won't be looking forward to the next few months.
The cost of living crisis and rising fuel costs is having an effect on us all, but with Ice Cream Vans having to run the engine to serve customers who are holding on to their spare cash more nowadays - the future is looking uncertain, according to one business owner.
Tony, who runs Tony's Ices, says his vans are often in Stamford and Rutland - but he's not sure how long he might be able to keep that up:
'The public don't understand, they still want it for £1 and yes it was 99p, that's why it's called that, but it's just gone up and I think the way things are it's just going to put us out of business in the next coming few years.'
'My prices for the 99 flake, a small one was £1,20. We increased it to £1,50 but the way things are going it's just going to end up costing more, because everything's just going up on a monthly basis.'
'The way it's going, it's just going to put an end to the ice cream industry. People don't want to spend £1.50 or £2 on an Ice Cream - it's not looking good.'
