Conservatives lose control of South Kesteven District Council

Both the Tory leader and deputy leader have lost their seats

South Kesteven now has no party majority after a major Conservative loss.

The Conservatives lost 16 seats in South Kesteven after results were counted overnight.

This includes Kelham Cooke, councillor for Casewick Ward for the last 12 years and leader of South Kesteven for four years.

Vannessa Smith from the Green Party and Rosemary Trollope-Bellew have been elected at Casewick Ward.

Independents and other gained 11, Green gained 4, Lib Dems gained 2 and Labour lost 1.

Following the count at St Andrew’s Hall, the political make-up of the district council is Conservative (24), Independents and Others (22), Green (4), Liberal Democrats (4) and Labour (2).
