Peterborough United won 2-0 against local rivals Cambridge United in their first EFL Trophy game at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Posh opened the scoring on 19 minutes, with Jadel Katongo marking his first appearance for the club with a clinical strike from close-range .

Cambridge made three changes at the interval, but it didn't take too long for Posh to double the lead, Mason-Clark collecting a pass from Clarke-Harris before finding the bottom corner.

Cambridge United turn their attention back to League One now, as they get ready to travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday in search for another three points.

Posh have Tottenham Hotspur under 21s next before concluding the group at Colchester United.
