Holiday makers in Peterborough Stamford and Rutland are being asked to drink responsibly on their flights this summer.

Staff at East Midlands Airport (EMA) are backing the 'One Too Many' campaign...which is up and running to try and reduce disruption.

Drunk passengers face hefty fines, flight bans and even jail time.

Richard Duckworth, Commercial Trading Manager at East Midlands Airport, says there are procedures that can be put into practise.

"If there were any signs of heavy consumption of alcohol then we'd obviously refuse any further sales at that point."

"Enjoy your time whilst you're here at East Midlands - we appreciate the holiday starts as you arrive at the terminal and we want you to have fun and relax and enjoy yourself.

"But obviously we don't want you to ruin your own trip or the trips of any other passengers."

Staff at EMA have a disruptive passenger app to keep tabs on passengers who take it too far.

"Any inappropriate behavior is reported on the app, which then sends out of a notification to all the other food and beverage outlets at the terminal, along with airline partners at boarding gates and the police", Mr Duckworth added.

The 'One Too Many' campaign website says: "The 1 in 640,000 passengers who is disruptive is one too many."

"The industry is committed to tackling disruptive behaviour through a voluntary Code of Practice.

"Signatories to the Code work together to prevent and minimise the number of disruptive passenger incidents, and promote: A zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour, the identification, pre-emption, management and reporting of disruptive incidents, the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol as well as education and communication with passengers."
