E-scooter stolen during 'hammer attack' in Cambridge

The victim says it happened along the footpath of the King George playing field, Paget Road on Sunday.

Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly attacked with a hammer and had his electric scooter stolen in Cambridge.

The 34-year-old victim was riding the scooter along the footpath of the King George playing field, Paget Road, at about 8.15pm on Sunday (9 July) when he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out the hammer.

He repeatedly hit the victim over the head with the hammer while the other man took the scooter, worth about ÂŁ2,000.

The pair attacked the victim and also threw a substance over him that caused blistering, before riding off on the scooter.

The victim suffered injuries to his head, face, arms and legs, which required hospital treatment.

The suspects are described as men in their early 20s, one wearing a balaclava and one with blonde hair. Both were wearing dark clothing at the time. The scooter is described as a black Kaboo Wolf Warrior 11 with red trim.

Detective Constable Matthew Lander, said: “This was a terrifying attack for the victim, who sustained serious injuries.

“Anyone with information about the incident, those involved or the whereabouts of the scooter, should contact police as soon as possible via the online webchat function or 101, quoting reference number 35/51385/23.”
