People to have their say on draft Future Rutland Vision

The Future Rutland Conversation will back in November

The Future Rutland Conversation will back in November with a draft of a new 'County Vision'.

It was first launched in April as a chance for people to have their say on a range of issues, from the environment and transport to health and education.

Feedback is being used to create a new 'Shared Vision' for the county, with common goals that help communities and local organisations with planning and decision-making.

After more than 2,000 people had their say between April and June, Future Rutland published a series of ten reports that summarised all of the comments, feedback and survey responses it had received.

People were then invited to review these findings and provide further feedback on what had been shared.

All of this feedback has been translated into a Vision.

Rutland County Council has organised and supported the Future Rutland Conversation, and will publish a draft copy of the Vision in early November.

People will then be able to submit comments and feedback again to help shape a final version.

It is hoped this will be published before the end of the year.

Mark Andrews, chief executive of the council, said:

"This is a really exciting point in the Future Rutland Conversation.

"Everything residents have talked about since the conversation first began in April has gone into shaping this draft Vision.

"The Vision describes the kind of place that people have said they want Rutland to be.

"The ultimate aim is to have a final Vision that brings the community and partners together around an agreed set of goals for the long-term future of our county – goals based on the things people have said are most important to them.

"The Vision is not a detailed plan of action.

"It’s meant to lay a foundation and describe the kind of place people say they want Rutland to be, while leaving room for further discussion about how we work together to achieve this.

"We also need to be clear that it will take many, many years of working together to reach some of the goals we set ourselves, as a county.

"The Vision is a generational document that could span 20-30 years, or longer, and belongs to everyone."
