'Rushing to pass your test can be dangerous'
Designed by the AA, the tool raises awareness around the dangers of rural routes for young drivers - following the tragic death of 18-year-old Caitlin who lost her life in a car accident in Cumbria in 2017.
Her friend, who was driving the vehicle and only passed her test a few months prior, also died in the crash.
Edmund King is the President of the AA:
'When they're (young people) learning to drive it's important not just to take lessons in towns and cities, but also on rural roads, at night, in different weather conditions.'
'What the message is, is trying to get across to young drivers that 71% of fatal crashes that involve young drivers actually happen on rural roads - not on motorways, not on the town and city centres.'
'The week before (her death) Caitlin was going out on a motorway to an airport - her mother was incredibly concerned about that, whereas the night she died she was going out on a rural road with friends on her way to dinner.'
