On World Suicide Prevention day there are concerns about the numbers taking their own life in Rutland.

There were 22 deaths in the county between 2010 and 2020.

One in five of us will have suicidal thoughts in our lifetime.

People in rural communities like Rutland can feel especially isolated.

We spoke to Pippa Boreman from Oakham mental health charity Peppers.

She says it's crucial anyone struggling to cope gets in touch with an organisation that can help like theirs.

She told us " a lot of the time people keep difficulties to themselves if they're feeling really down"

"That's until they get to that point of crisis and maybe they have feeling of suicide."

"I think it's really important we start the discussion sooner so fewer hopefully people don't reach that reach that crisis point".

And if you or someone you know is feeling down you can always talk to the Samaritans.

Their number is 116 123.
