There's concern about the mental health of older people in Cambridgeshire as they struggle to pay the bills as well as socialise.
It has been revealed more than 300 over 65s are living alone without central across Cambridgeshire.
More than 66,000 over-65s across England and Wales are likely to be living alone without central heating.
Age UK described the findings as being "of tremendous concern" and warned of "potentially serious consequences" for older people's health and wellbeing.
This is according to analysis of census 2021 data by the PA news agency.
Melanie Pittock, CEO at Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, said: "Not only are they struggling to pay their bills, but its affecting their mental wellbeing.
If they can't afford to go to clubs anymore, they're not receiving that social support".
She added: "They may want to attend one of our day services, they may want to become a become a volunteer.
There is nothing to be ashamed off, nothing to be embarrassed out.
