A community garden in Peterborough have launched a campaign, opposing a plan for housing on their site.

The Green Backyard runs a variety of gardening workshops across the region.

However, their site now forms part of a plot where 48 houses have been earmarked for housing and economic growth.

The site, on London Road, is part of Peterborough City Council's Draft Local Plan, which outlines plans for the development of the city over the next 20 years.

It is currently consulting and asking people to take part in "helping shape later versions".

The council's consultation on its growth plans runs until 29 May.

Ingrid Hooley, Service Director for Growth and Regeneration, said “At this stage, the plan is still in draft form, so the public’s feedback is essential in helping shape later versions. I encourage everyone to have their say.”
