Detectives are re-appealing for witnesses – in particular the drivers of three vehicles - following a fatal road collision on the A47 Uppingham Road near the Rutland border.

Police were called at 9.21am on Friday 20 January to a report of a collision close to the village of East Norton.

The collision involved the driver of a breakdown recovery vehicle, who was outside the vehicle at the time, and a black Audi A4 estate.

The driver of the breakdown vehicle, Mr Tristian Connell, who was 37 and from the Leicester area, suffered fatal injuries and sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the Audi was not injured. A child inside the car was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 30-year-old woman has been voluntarily interviewed by detectives as part of the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood said: “Our enquiries into the collision are very much ongoing as the investigation continues.

“Today is three weeks on since the incident and I am further appealing for anyone with information regarding the incident who hasn’t spoken to police to get in touch as well as specifically the drivers of three particular vehicles.

“We have information that shortly before the collision these three vehicles were held at the temporary traffic lights on the A47 citybound travelling in front of the Audi.

"They then proceeded forward past the breakdown vehicle and the vehicle it was recovering sometime between 9.10am and 9.20am.

“If you were in any of these three vehicles, please get in touch with us. You could have some information would could prove significant to our investigation.”
