Read on for tips and tricks on how to make your festive food shop last longer
There's plenty of ways to make your festive food shop and Christmas dinner leftovers last longer, according to one Rutland charity.
Clare Crowley, from Rutland Community Fridges, is an expert in making the most of surplus food - and has been sharing with us her tips and tricks on how to get more for your money post-Christmas.
Christmas dinner leftovers
'You'll probably have loads of leftovers from your Christmas dinner. It's always a good idea to use them for a bubble and squeak brunch on Boxing Day', Clare told us.
'Any meat that you have leftover or nut roast or anything, you can cut up and freeze straight away so it doesn't freeze.'
You can also make stock for soup out of the turkey bones or chicken bones, or casseroles and stew from leftover veg and meat - and then you can freeze all that when it's ready.
No such thing as too much milk
Use the freezer as much as you can, because there's a lot of food that you produce for family and friends and sometimes it doesn't always get eaten.
If you have a lot of milk for example and it's about to go out of date, you could always make pancakes and you can even freeze pancakes once they're made for another day.
Or you could have a more luxurious hot chocolate with a whole cup of full milk, instead of hot water.
If you have leftover double cream - if you've whipped it with your whisk, then you can put it in a bag and freeze it for another time as well.
