With it being National Pet Month this April, we've been catching up with a Stamford and Rutland care business that prides itself in looking after clients and their pets.

Home Straight care providers help people feel as comfortable as possible in their own homes, but when those homes come with pets - staff make sure they're just as well looked after.

Staff will help walk, feed and play with all kinds of pets when their owners aren't feeling up to the task.

Georgie Balmford, who runs the business, says it's the least they can do when pets offer such a source of companionship to their clients as they get older.

She also said that her team has helped tend to animals of all different types in plenty of different ways:

"We had a client who had a cat and sadly she had to go into a home. We had another client wo wanted to get a dog and we said, with permission from the first lady and her family, we've got a client who's looking for a dog but maybe they'd like a cat... so we successfully re-homed the cat with the other client and it's worked really well."

"We had a lady that had chickens and she couldn't manage the steps anymore to the garden very well, so we used to go and help with the chickens. So really it's just trying to ensure they can do everything they could've done, it's like taking them to the hairdressers or the library."
