Burghley House in Stamford is returning to the big screen
It's for the new DC Comics film 'The Flash'
Burghley House in Stamford is returning to the big screen, this time for a Hollywood film.
The trailer for DC film The Flash has been released this week with a glimpse of the sixteenth century house.
Produced by Warner Bros, the trailer has already been played more than 5 million times.
It's believed the exterior of Burghley is acting as Wayne Manor - the home of Batman and it makes four appearances in the three-minute trailer, including, scenes shot from the roof, the West front, the Great Hall and the Hell Staircase.
The new Hollywood film follows the story of The Flash as he travels through time to prevent the murder of his mother, but accidentally causes changes resulting in the creation of a multiverse.
As well as Ezra Miller - who stars in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Perks of Being a Wallflower - The Flash is also set to feature other well-known actors such as Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck.
It's not the first time the sixteenth century manor has been seen on our screens; it was in a number of scenes for season 5 of Netflix, The Crown with crews returning last month to film the final season.
The Flash is due to be released in cinemas in June and Jasmine Langfrey from Close Encounters comic bookstore in Peterborough thinks Burghley house was the perfect choice:
"It definitely fits the descriptions we see in the comics; the Wayne Manor has essential been the family household for generations until it was passed on to Bruce as he was the last remaining heir of the Wayne Empire when his parents were killed. In the comics it's described as a nineteenth century building, compared to Burghley which is sixteenth century, but it still carries that classic gothic vibe."
"From what we've heard about The Flash movie so far, it seems like this movie is going to kick off a whole new cinematic universe for DC, much like what Marvel have already built over the years so it's really cool to see a location so near to us being used."
"Hopefully with that it will be a location people might want to visit in the future after seeing the film which would be really cool."
