Organisers have confirmed that a popular birdwatching festival is set to return to Rutland this summer.

The Global Birdfair, described as the "birdwatcher's Glastonbury", was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But in a Facebook post, organisers of the festival confirmed that keen bird-spotters will be able to gather from July 15th to 17th.

The festival is under new management after Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust ran the fair for 30 years.

Previously known as the Rutland Birdfair, the festival has now been expanded to be named the Global Birdfair by new manager Tim Appleton.

The fair is also renowned for its push for animal and environmental conservation, as the destruction of bird's homes in nature continues.

It is thought the rebooted version of the festival will help to boost the local economy in the wake of the pandemic, featuring events and exhibitions from local artists and businesses.
