Leicestershire police have took to twitter warning people to avoid travelling on the roads in Uppingham.

Several cars have got stuck on the A6003.

Meanwhile, police in Rutland say they are dealing with several cars that have got stuck.

They're asking the public to stay at home unless they really need to travel.

Lauren, an officer in Rutland said:

"It's still snowing quite badly in Rutland, we have already had a number of incidents where vehicles have been stuck in the snow.

"Please think about whether your journey is essential today, and if it isn't please don't travel on the roads and put yourself and others at risk."

Lincolnshire police, which covers Stamford, has had reports of 30 collisions and 18 hazards across the county.

Darrell Redford, the network resilience manager at Lincolnshire county council said:

"Looking ahead we are going to be very busy this week, this is not breaking until towards the end of the week, we are looking at another 4 or 5 days of cold temperatures.

"The snow will become less of an issue and it will be more -3 and-4, so this snow isn't going to disappear until probably early next week.

"It is strange that actually we want more traffic on the road when it snows because you want it to work it through, it doesn't help that we have less traffic but that's the nature of the situation we are in, we have done one or two extra runs because of that, and have laid well over 2 thousand tonnes of salt."
