Conservatives win re-formed Rutland and Stamford seat
Alicia Kearns won comfortably with a majority of 10,400, despite a Labour landslide across the country
Alicia Kearns has been elected Member of Parliament for Rutland and Stamford, with a majority of 10,400 votes.
It means Alicia Kearns has been re-elected for a second term, after replacing Sir Alan Duncan MP in 2019.
Votes cast totalled 48,748, of which 48,078 were postal votes.
There were 71,763 registered voters, meaning turnout reached 67.92%.
Vote verification and counting for the constituency took place at Casterton College, and the winner was revealed around 5am.
The re-formed Rutland and Stamford seat for this General Election was previously split between Rutland and Melton and Grantham and Stamford, held by Gareth Davies MP.
Gareth Davies held his new seat of Grantham and Bourne, winning by a majority of 4,496 - down from his previous majority of 26,000 in 2019.
Alicia Kearns became MP of Rutland and Melton in 2019 with a majority of 26,924 and a voter share of 62.2%.
The Conservatives have always held the Rutland and Melton seat since its inception in 1983, with Kearns increasing the party's majority in the county for the fourth consecutive election in 2019.
The Grantham and Stamford seat, formed following a boundary change in 1997, has predominantly been Tory, until Quentin Davies MP defected to the Labour Party in 2010 and Nick Boles MP went independent in 2019.
