A drug dealer from Peterborough has been jailed for five-years-and-six-months after police found cocaine worth almost £10k in his pockets.

Officers say 26-year-old Ali Chaudhry had thrown a jacket out of a bedroom window during a police raid in Dogsthorpe in November.

Inside the pockets, officers found large quantities of cocaine, along with cannabis and mobile phones.

He was arrested at the scene.

He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of a Class B drug – cannabis.

He was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (19th December).

Detective Constable Igor Simonov, who investigated, said: “Chaudhry will be behind bars for this Christmas and the next few. He thought he could get away with hiding these substances, but his actions caught up with him.

“Drugs like these trap people in addiction and cause misery for our communities. Their use is often linked to anti-social behaviour and violence, among other crimes. We’re working hard to tackle the issue and bring drug dealers before the courts. I’d encourage anyone with information about drug supply to contact us.”
