A nurse in Peterborough, who suffered a brain injury, starts running the Marathon Des Sables in Morocco today.
Claire Willis is raising money for the Headway, a charity that supported her through her recovery and living with her injury.
They help me put in coping mechanisms and helped me understand
Five years ago, Claire was found in a ditch after a cycling accident and when she eventually woke she had no recollection of what happened.
She would later attend the hospital where it was discovered that she had a bleed on the brain.
Now, Claire is looking to overcome her past challenges and take on one of the toughest feats in the world.
If I get it done I can't tell you how proud I'll be
"Things that I would put off and say, I'm not sure if I can afford that or if I have time for that, I make the time and find a way."
"Headway is really important to me."
"It was little things that changed for me, like I get overwhelmed with too much information, and they help me put in coping mechanisms and helped me understand."
"As much as I'm raising money for charity, it will be as big an achievement just for myself."
"It will mean the world to me."
"If I get it done I can't tell you how proud I'll be."
Over the next six days Claire will be aiming to run 252.8km in the Sahara Desert.
It's distributed over six stages where temperatures can reach 50 degrees in the full sun.
