A man from Uffington is attempting to set a world record.

Later this month, Sigi Solly plans to sail around Rutland Water for eight hours.

He's aiming to raise £10,000 for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis Support after a member of his family was diagnosed with the condition.

Speaking about the day, Sigi said:

"My main concern is what the weather's going to be like."

"I don't mind the rain or the cold, but I must have a reasonable wind."

"If there's wind of below five miles per hour, I'm not going to travel very far, and if it's over twenty-three, it becomes hard work controlling the boat."

"It gets quite cold on Rutland Water, and the cold can be tiring."

"Even if you're not doing a lot of physical work, being out on a boat in the wind for four or five hours, you seem to deplete quicker."

"From a personal point of view it would be nice to get the record but my focus is purely on the charity and this is just a nice way of bringing it to life."

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) is a liver disease in which the bile ducts inside and outside the liver become inflamed and scarred, and eventually narrowed or blocked. There is no cure.

All donations will go to the charity.

Donations can be made on Sigi Solly's Just Giving page.
