Woman treated for smoke inhalation following fire in Plymouth

Crews were called to tackle a fire in Ernesettle last night (10 January).

An oven in a first floor flat in Hawkinge Gardens had gone up in a blaze, with one woman needing to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Teams quickly distinguished the fire, with all people accounted for.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said:

"Crews from Camels Head, Crownhill and Greenbank were mobilised to reports of a property fire at the above location.

"On arrival crews discovered a fire involving an oven in a first floor flat. All persons were accounted for.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet, one thermal imaging camera and positive pressure ventilation to extinguish the fire.

"The Ambulance service was requested for one female suffering with smoke inhalation."
