Woman 'dragged along the ground' by bag snatcher in Plymouth

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed outside a Plymouth store.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was using the cashpoint outside the Co-op in Embankment Road when a man ran past her and snatched her bag.

She was injured after being pulled to the floor and dragged along the ground by the suspect as he tried to take the bag.

The thief then ran off with her bag which contained an amount of cash and bank cards.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"The incident happened outside the Co-op store in Embankment Road near to Cattedown roundabout between 8.15pm and 8.30pm on Friday 20 August.

"A 34-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"Police are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information to assist with their enquiries. They are also asking for anyone who may have captured the incident on dash cam to get in touch."
