A new project is being launched in Devon and Cornwall to provide peer support to women living with the impact of sexual violence and abuse.

The Sorella Project is a collaboration between Devon Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Services, The Women’s Centre Cornwall, and the women and children’s charity Trevi.

The project aims to increase the resilience, wellbeing and quality of life for victims of sexual abuse and violence, by enabling them to connect with empowering resources and support networks provided by women who have gone through similar experiences.

The charities are actively recruiting women with lived experience of sexual violence/abuse/harrassment, who feel passionate about women’s empowerment and who can provide empathy and good listening and communication skills.

Project lead Kate Pattar says “I’m delighted to be launching Sorella with The Women’s Centre Cornwall and Trevi. It gives an opportunity to provide additional support to survivors of sexual violence and enables women to empower women.”

Volunteers who can give a minimum of 12 hours a month (which will include initial training), should contact Kate Pattar on 01392 208756 or kate@devonrapecrisis.org.uk. More information is available here.
