Volunteers needed at COVID-19 vaccination centres in Devon

People are needed to meet and greet patients and provide them with details about the jab

Volunteers are being sought to help with the COVID-19 mass vaccination programme in Devon.

One Plymouth is looking for people to do the following:

Ushering and patient flow Stewards

This role covers both internal and external stewarding, External Stewards are likely to be involved in:

  • Directing citizens to the appropriate site entrance and directing traffic if necessary, ensuring citizens respect social distancing guidelines and have all the documentation and paperwork prepared for checking
  • Checking paperwork to ensure citizens are in the right place at the right time and identifying citizens who may require additional support and direct them as appropriate.

Internal stewards will:

  • Ensure efficient flow to and from the vaccination station and effectively communicate with the exit area representatives to avoid congestion.
  • Provide enhanced support to those requiring it (e.g. those who cannot queue standing) and ensure that citizens respect social distancing guidelines.

Vaccination care volunteer

This role will involve meeting and greeting patients, ensuring they are comfortable, reassuring them pre and post vaccine, helping them navigate the vaccination centre, and signposting them to relevant external resources as needed.

You would be working collaboratively with small diverse teams including NHS doctors, nurses, and other trained staff and completing documentation associated with the administration of the vaccine, ensuring compliance with regulated requirements.

Patient advocate

This role will include, providing additional informational support to the citizens, presenting them with relevant details about the vaccination, adverse reactions and process.

Confidently conveying NHS messaging on the vaccination in line with national guidelines and responding to any citizen queries and concerns.

Notifying a Registered Healthcare Professional of any adverse reactions.

Days and shift allocation will be arranged to suit you once applications are processed. Shifts are likely to be 8am-Noon. Noon-4pm and 4pm-8pm.
