People across Plymouth and indeed the country are being invited to take part in a project to transform a forgotten part of the city.

Each brick in a section of wall on Glen Park Avenue, near the train station, will be painted with a different design in a mass community initiative.

There are more than 3,000 bricks and locals have until 31 May to add their design to it.

The project is being funded by the Mayflower 400 and Plymouth City Council.

Once the wall is complete, it will be sealed with a protective coating, so it can last longer.

Organiser Frasia Dunn said: "Loads of public art and murals are made by one person. We wanted to make one that's made up of lots of different voices.

"It's really fun to look at the whole wall and just get to see a snapshot of what went on in thousands of people's minds when they decided to put paint to brick."

Dan Petley, who has been developing the Brick Project for over a decade, adds: "The spirit of the community is channeled into the way the painting looks.

"We've not covered enough space yet. A bit less rain would help with that but I am very confident we'll be finished by our deadline."
