Officers were called to Bennett Road on Sunday (27 June) and a cordon was put in place.

Investigations are underway to find out the cause of death and identity of the body.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Officers attended the scene on Bennett Road, at around 5pm, on Sunday 27 June, after receiving a call from a member of the public and a body was found in a wooded area by the police.

"The police investigation is at an early stage as enquiries continue to establish the cause of death and the identity of the body, and the community will see a heightened police presence over the coming days.

"We do appreciate the impact the cordon will have on the community and thank residents for their understanding."
