Two new new baby lynxes have been born at Dartmoor Zoo.

They're thought to have been born on the 29th of May, with staff being alerted by squeaks coming from mum Emily's enclosure.

Emily was introduced to dad Flaviu in March after he arrived from Karlsruhe Zoo in Germany, and the pair hit it off immediately.

The zoo says at the moment Emily seems calm, in good spirits and Flaviu is already showing signs of protection and attentiveness towards Emily and their litter.

This enclosure will be closed off to the public until further notice, allowing the parents and kits alike to adjust.

Animal Manager Madeleine Millin commented: “Everyone at Dartmoor Zoo is elated at our newest arrivals.

"The keeper team will be monitoring Emily and Flaviu’s behaviour and welfare during this time whilst ensuring the parents and kits have space to adjust, explore and to feel safe and calm in their environment.

"The enclosure will remain off show to the public until further notice, so although

they may be visible, we ask guests to remain calm and quiet around their enclosure until further notice.”
