Two men arrested after man attacked with 'hammer and sword' in North Prospect
A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Two men are in police custody this morning after a man was left with injuries following an alleged attack in Plymouth.
Police were called to North Prospect yesterday evening (21 April) with reports that a man had been attacked with a hammer and a sword by two men known to him.
The suspects fled the scene to Cookworthy Road, where armed officers attended and secured the property.
The pair - a 53-year-old man and 49-year-old man - were arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"Police were called yesterday at around 7pm with a report that a man had been attacked with a hammer and a sword by two males known to him, at an address on North Prospect.
"The two suspects left the scene on foot to an address on Cookworthy Road and armed officers attended and contained the property while the suspects initially refused to come out.
"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"A 53-year-old man and a 49-year-old man, both from Plymouth, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and are currently in police custody."
