Multiple flood warnings in force as torrential rain hits Devon and Cornwall
Parts of the River Tamar, the River Tavy, the River Plym and the River Exe are among those on high alert

'Immediate action' flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency, as heavy rain continues to hit Devon and Cornwall.
Parts of the River Tamar, the River Tavy at Tavistock, the River Plym at Plymouth are among those on high alert, with properties expected to flood.
Downpours have caused the catchment areas to rise and they are forecast to rise further on Friday morning.
As of 7am on Friday 29th October, a total of 14 flood warnings were in force across the region.
This level of alert means residents are urged to act now to protect homes and businesses.
The Met Office severe weather warning for heavy rain will be in force until 9am on Friday 29th October.
What is the flood forecast?
The warning for the River Tavy was the first to be issued on Thursday night, with the Flood Information Service website stating: "Flooding is expected during Thursday night and Friday morning. Take immediate action.
"Heavy rain has fallen over the Tavy catchment with a further 20 mm of rain expected. This has caused the River Tavy to rise and the river is forecast to continue rising over the next 2-3 hours.
"Properties and low lying areas around Stannary Bridge Road, Parkwood Road, Market Road, Dolvin Road, Abbey Walk, Pixon Lane at Tavistock will start to flood first from around 21:30 on Thursday. River levels are forecast to be at their highest around midnight and could remain high for several hours afterwards.
"Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing, and roads could form flow routes. Residents are strongly urged to take action now.
"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring the situation and this message will be updated by 10am on Friday or earlier if the situation changes.
"Our staff are out in the area and will relay information and assist the emergency services and council".
Multiple flood alerts are also in force across the region, including the North Cornwall Rivers, stretches of the River Tamar and the River Lynher.
What does a flood warning mean?
A flood warning means you need to act: flooding is expected. You should do all the actions for a flood alert, but also:
Move vehicles to higher ground if it’s safe to do so
Move family and pets to safety
Move important items upstairs or to a safe place in your property, starting with cherished items and valuables, then furniture and furnishings
Turn off gas, electricity and water supplies if it’s safe to do so; never touch an electrical switch if you’re standing in water
If you have property protection products such as flood barriers, or air brick covers, use them now
