There's still time to help raise thousands of pounds for charity by donating empty plastic Christmas sweet tubs.

Devon Contract Waste aims to turn 65,000 of them into things like benches and is giving all proceeds to good causes.

Spokesperson Emily Almond tells us they have around 100 places accepting donations across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset - with up to ÂŁ5,000 in proceeds going to Mind and Dartmoor Zoo.

Each empty sweet box donated raises around 8p for the charities. Across the UK around 120-million of the tubs are sold each Christmas.

Ms Almond said: “We were shocked at the vast stacks of plastic tubs in the supermarkets at this time of year, and as a plastic recycling specialist we felt compelled to do what we can to keep the plastic out of landfill while raising vital funds for charity."

Donations need to be taken to drop-off locations by Monday 28th February 2022. If business, schools or organisations would like to become a drop-off point email emily@dcw.co.uk
