As the number of second homes here reaches a record high, we've learnt those buying them have started complaining Devon's losing its charm.

There's now around 100 properties a month here, becoming second homes or holiday homes, one of the highest rates in the country.

Teignbridge currently has 1,253 people on the local housing waiting list and 1,272 second homes

Councillor Martin Wrigley unearthed the figures and is calling for changes to ensure second homes and holiday lets contribute more to things like council tax and bin collections.

There is currently 13,363 properties in Devon classed as second homes, according to new research by Action on Empty Homes, who call it an 11 per cent yearly increase.
