Russell Brand's Plymouth show postponed
He was due to perform at Plymouth Pavilions on Friday
Russell Brand’s live stand up show in Plymouth scheduled for Friday night has been postponed.
None of the remaining shows on the Bipolarisation tour will now take place.
Plymouth-based support group Trevi Women & Children’s Charity was one of the charities to cut ties with the 48-year-old comedian following allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse to four women over a seven-year period, which Brand has strenuously denied.
And today at Plymouth City Council’s full council meeting the city’s Violence Against Women and Girls champion (VAWG) Cllr Zoe Reilly said it was “inappropriate” for the show to go ahead.
All tickets for the sell-out show at the Pavilions will be refunded.
The promoters said: “We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don’t like doing it – but we know you’ll understand.”
Tickets will be refunded direct from point of purchase, while tickets purchased from The Ticket Store will automatically be refunded.
A Channel 4 Dispatches programme was broadcast at the weekend following a joint investigation with the Times and Sunday Times into the performer’s alleged treatment of women.
It detailed allegations including one who was a child when Russell Brand allegedly began a sexual relationship with her.
Trevi Women & Children’s Charity said it was “deeply saddened and upset” about the allegations.
