The A38 westbound is closed this morning (21/06) after a serious crash in the early hours.

We're told the closure will be in effect for much of this morning.

The key route has been shout going in to Plymouth, from the direction of Plympton.

National Highways say the crash happened around 3 o clock this morning, and emergency services are on the scene.

A diversion is in place, taking traffic through Plympton.

National Highways say: "The A38 westbound has been closed between the B3416 (Plympton) and the A374 (Plymouth) due to a collision.

"Devon and Cornwall Police currently lead the response to a serious collision which occurred at approximately 3am this morning. The carriageway was closed to allow the emergency services to attend and work at the scene."
