Police launch murder investigation in Plymouth
Officers were called to Shelley Way last night, following concerns for the welfare of a man
A Plymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Investigations have been launched, after a 70-year-old man died in the early hours of this morning (19 February).
Police were initially called to Shelley Way following concerns for his welfare.
A cordon is currently in place at the scene as enquiries continue; and the suspect remains in custody.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:
"Police were called at 9.55pm on Thursday 18 February to an address on Shelley Way following concerns for the welfare of a man.
"Ambulance treated the man, aged in his 70s, at the scene and he was taken to Derriford Hospital. He was confirmed deceased in the early hours on Friday 19 February and his next-of-kin have been informed.
"A 50-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.
"A police cordon is in place at the scene and officers will remain in the area to carry out enquires throughout the day."
