One arrested and one seriously injured after reported knife incident in Plymouth

Police have been called to an incident in Plymouth, where it is believed a man was in possession of a knife.

They attended the scene on Mutley Plain at 2.51am this morning (Friday 8 April), near the Premier Shop.

Local searches were undertaken to locate the suspect.

At 2.57am police arrested a 20-year-old local man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and resisting arrest.

A local man in his 30s sustained serious injuries but not thought to be life-threatening; he remains in Derriford Hospital.

Officers put a full closure on the Mutley Plain area of Plymouth to undertake scene investigation work.

At around 7.45am, much of this was lifted and traffic was allowed to flow through; some smaller cordons remain in place in the area.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and who has yet to have spoken with officers at the scene.
