Get ready for Plymouth's first socially distanced pantomime
Stars Les Dennis and Connor McIntyre tell Greatest Hits Radio what to expect
Tomorrow (12 Saturday) the Theatre Royal Plymouth will be opening its doors for the first showing of this year's pantomime.
Robinson Crusoe will run for three weeks, thanks to funding from The National Lottery.
The star-studded cast includes the likes of Les Dennis, Connor McIntyre, Simon Webbe, Andy Ford and Jennie Dale.
The one-act pantomime has been specifically created for live, socially distanced audience - and the venue are confident in providing an audience-safe experience, with "all the unmissable magic that Plymouth audiences have come to expect from their annual festive pantomime".
Les, who plays Mrs Crusoe, said it has been "massively different" this year:
"If we're not on stage, we have to put our masks back on. The stage is mapped out so we can always, within the show, be socially distant."
This will be one of the first times the people of Plymouth will be able to enjoy a show at the theatre in over eight months.
Connor, who plays Captain Cockles, says he thinks "it will be massive" for audiences:
"I hope people will be very happy that panto's happening here. A little bit of stardust around Christmas and hopefully cheer people up."
The first showing is at 2.30pm on Saturday 12 December.
