Police have issued more than 10 fines for people breaching lockdown rules in Plymouth.

Officers were called to a staff work leaving party, which they described as 'not acceptable'.

They also added that they were 'disappointed' at the fact it was only a short distance from Derriford Hospital.

Current lockdown restrictions mean you cannot leave your home to meet socially with anyone you do not live with or are not in a support bubble with.

You also cannot leave home for recreational or leisure purposes (such as for a picnic or a social meeting).

You can travel to work, but only if you cannot reasonably work from home. This includes, but is not limited to, people who work in:

  • critical national infrastructure
  • construction
  • manufacturing
  • childcare or education
  • essential public services

Those caught breaching COVID-restrictions have be issued a Fixed Penalty Notice of £200 for the first offence, doubling for further offences up to a maximum of £6,400.

If you hold, or are involved in holding, an illegal gathering of over 30 people, the police can issue fines of £10,000.
