Plymouth couples getting loved up after second lockdown
Our city is no. 2 in the UK for public displays of affection
New research has revealed that Brits secretly love public displays of affection.
Plymouth is nearly topping the list of where you'll find the most PDA in the UK, with 73% of people here admitting to doing it.
It comes as the nation emerges from a second lockdown, having been separated from loved ones for so long.
The research, from dating expert Match, shows that people have set aside their own prudish stereotypes, as 34% admit they're now happy to see public displays of affection and a further 37% would encourage it.
Traditionally, overtly lovesick couples would have made Brits recoil, but after one of the worst years in modern history, one in five (19%) say they'll be less afraid to display their own love more publicly in future.
Despite being determined to be more open to it, there are still some signs of affection that'll take time to get used to. Speaking to each other in baby voices (30%), passionately kissing in public (21%) and feeding each other (20%) are the top three things we love to hate.
Across the UK, it would appear those in Bristol are most comfortable with displaying their commitment to one another as 73% admitted to partaking in PDA, followed by residents of Plymouth (73%) and Nottingham (71%).
